Pierr Morgan was born in Seattle, Washington and resides on Whidbey Island, conveniently located just across the Sound from Point Wilson Lighthouse. Her mystical yet playful painting style drew us to her work as a match for "Tales of the Lighthouse Keeper."

Pierr started painting when she was nine years old. "I got into my dad's paint box and created a portrait of a miniature doll. I used the oils as if I knew exactly what I was doing - it was the most wonderful feeling."

Pierr’s formal art education began at age 32 at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, where she studied under the instruction of many internationally known designers, illustrators, and painters. The first two years she declared herself an illustration major then she switched to painting during the third year. "I wanted to learn everything," she says. "I graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting, awarded with Distinction." Since then, she has spent the last twenty years illustrating children’s books. To date, she has eighteen published titles, one of which she authored.

"I’m a lover of story," Pierr explains. "It brings me great pleasure to think of each painting as a mini drama in which a particularly meaningful moment is captured in stillness and shared. I hope it pleases your readers to view these moments I painted especially for COLUMBIAKids."
