Bat
by Rolli

In deep cavenight,
Head under hairy heels,
Upside-down feels
Just right.

A full moonrise.
Leather uncurling wings.
Where crickets sing,
He flies.

The ultrasonic beast
Sees with waves of waves.
He’ll chase what he craves,
And feast.

As sunshine seeps
From the hills, he flies
To cavedark highs,
And sleeps.

My Lists
by Jody Jensen Shaffer

I have a list of favorite pets.
I have a list of friends.
I made a list of songs I like.
My "Games" list never ends.

I wrote a list of vegetables
that I will never eat.
I have a list of favorite toys
and ways to beat the heat.

I made a list of holidays
and one of special books.
I have a list of "Helpful Hints"
for when my father cooks.

My list of things that I might be
is very long indeed,
as is my Must Haves Christmas list.
Those things I really need.

And though I have more notebook space
and great idea twists,
if I don’t stop this listing stuff,
I’ll need a list of lists!
